The Sherman Museum in Sherman, Texas occupies a 1914 Carnegie Library building and a neighboring historic Church of Christ structure, displaying artifacts related to Grayson County and the Red River area. Visitors explore permanent and featured exhibits, including a collection of 95 dolls representing countries and cultures, many handmade and used historically for educational purposes. The Carnegie building showcases three oil-on-wood paintings by Texas artist James Swann installed in 1934, depicting classical figures representing music, literature, and painting with gold-leaf backgrounds. The Church of Christ facility houses the museum's 50,000-plus artifacts and features 48 original stained-glass windows. The museum offers group activities and children's workshops suited for school field trips and organizations. Both buildings earned designation as recorded Texas Historical Landmarks in 1986; the Carnegie building gained National Registry status in 1990. The museum provides accessible facilities with elevators and stairs throughout, plus a handicap-accessible restroom.
