The Eisenhower Birthplace State Historic Site in Denison preserves the modest two-story frame house where the 34th U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower was born in 1890. Visitors tour the original 1870s home and explore period rooms including the bedroom where Eisenhower was born, the dining room, and kitchen with its original stove. Antique furnishings throughout the house illustrate the working-class life of the Eisenhower family. The adjacent visitor center features memorabilia and exhibits celebrating Eisenhower's accomplishments as a war hero and president. The grounds include a general store and a statue of Eisenhower in the garden. Facilitated tours depart at the top of each hour, and the site offers school field trip programs. The attraction suits families, history enthusiasts, and educational groups interested in early American presidential history and life in the late 1800s.
Hours: Wednesday to Saturday 9 a.m.–5 p.m., Sunday Noon–5 p.m.
