About Frontier Village & Museum

Frontier Village & Museum in Denison preserves eleven of Grayson County's earliest historic homes and cabins, with structures dating back to the 1840s. Visitors explore the grounds on self-guided walking tours, viewing exteriors of buildings including the Price-Shaw Dogtrot Cabin, the two-story Greek Revival Bullock-Bass House, the Thompson House, and the Holder Cabin, which houses the oldest still-standing one-room schoolhouse in Texas. Inside the museum building, rotating exhibits highlight pioneer life and local history. Guided tours are available, and the site hosts Living History Days and the Frontier Experience Summer Camp. Heritage skills classes are offered throughout the year. The grounds include Loy Lake with scenic views where visitors can bring picnic lunches. General admission tickets are sold online through the museum's website. The village operates Friday through Monday with hours published on the site.
