The Farm at Oatland North is an animal sanctuary on St. Simons Island where visitors meet rescued, abused, and abandoned animals learning to trust again. Guests interact with horses, donkeys, goats, pigs, and cats during visits. The sanctuary began with a single horse named Lightning and grew as the family adopted retired and unwanted animals over many years. Open house visits occur most Sundays, where guests observe animals in their enclosures and may offer acceptable treats under volunteer guidance. Children must stay supervised by adults at all times, use quiet voices and calm movements, and remain outside gates and enclosures. Visitors should wear appropriate footwear and be aware that animals may gently nibble on fingers or clothing. The Farm operates as a nonprofit charity on land with roots reaching back to the 1700s as Oatland Plantation.
