Southern Arizona Balloon Excursions offers hot air balloon rides over the Sonoran Desert landscape near Tucson. Visitors experience bird's-eye views of the desert terrain, cacti, and wildlife from a hot air balloon. The company operates private rides, sweetheart rides designed for two people, tethered rides where the balloon remains tethered to the ground, and static displays of the balloons. Pilot Patrick Nilz, who obtained his commercial hot air balloon license by age eighteen, leads flights in the Tucson and Marana area. The family-owned business has been operating since 1988, with over thirty thousand visitors having flown with them. Riders see the desert landscape from above and observe the region's wildlife. Tickets are sold online through the venue's website.
