Santa Rosa Ballooning operates sunrise hot air balloon flights over the Santa Rosa Valley and Russian River wine country in Sonoma County. Visitors meet at the Hilton Garden Inn in Santa Rosa before being shuttled to the launch site. The experience spans three to four hours total, beginning with pre-flight refreshments and a safety briefing from FAA-certified pilots. The balloon flight itself lasts 45 minutes to one hour, drifting over vineyards, the Russian River, redwood-lined hills, and renowned wineries including Kendall-Jackson, Matanzas Creek, and St. Francis. Flights depart at sunrise when winds are calmest. After landing, guests participate in a traditional champagne toast. The company offers shared sunrise flights as well as private basket options for two, three to four, or five to six passengers. Children must be at least 8 years old and 57 inches tall. Guests must be able-bodied, climb in and out of the gondola unassisted, and stand throughout the flight.
