Old Faithful Geyser of California in Calistoga erupts approximately every fifteen to thirty minutes, shooting a column of hot water and steam skyward before settling into a quiet turquoise pool. The National Geographic Society recognized it as one of only three faithful geysers on Earth. Visitors watch eruptions from lounge chairs and picnic lawns with Palisades views, bringing their own food and Napa Valley wine to a complimentary picnic station that provides glasses, utensils and napkins. The grounds include a Heritage Animal Farm with four-horn sheep and guard llamas, a Geology Museum featuring a live seismograph and hands-on exhibits about geysers, volcanoes and earthquakes, Native and Culinary Gardens centered on a turquoise mineral-water fountain, and bocce courts for lawn games. Self-guided trails wind through the property at the visitor's own pace. Dogs on leashes are welcome throughout the grounds.
