San Jose Museum of Art hosts exhibitions in painting, sculpture, film, and new media that explore socially relevant contemporary art. Visitors move through galleries at their own pace or join docent-led tours offered Thursday at 2:30pm and Friday through Sunday at 1 and 2:30pm. The Museum Café serves sandwiches, soups, salads, and desserts. First Fridays, held after 6pm on the first Friday of each month, feature a DJ and open galleries with free admission for everyone. Community Days around Día de Los Muertos and Lunar New Year offer free admission plus art-making and entertainment. The Museum Store sells art books and gifts. Youth 17 and under, college students, and teachers receive free admission. Bank of America cardholders get one free general admission on the first full weekend of each month, and EBT cardholders can bring up to four people free. Details are at sjmusart.org.
