The Robbins Hunter Museum occupies the Avery-Downer House, an 1842 Greek Revival landmark listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Guided tours reveal the home's architectural significance, from its iconic Ionic columns and classical design to distinctive details throughout. Visitors explore elegant rooms including the formal parlor, ladies' parlor, and doctor's office, arranged with period furnishings that illustrate how residents lived. The museum features an exhibit about Victoria Woodhull, the Licking County native who became the first woman to run for president, exploring her groundbreaking and often controversial life. An animated clock tower above the west entrance serves as the nation's first memorial to Woodhull, with a hand-carved figure that emerges each hour. The Jill Griesse Historic Garden and Holly Shai Lady's Garden showcase historic and rare daffodils and bloom seasonally. The museum is located in the heart of Granville, Ohio, next to the Granville Public Library. General admission is free, and guided tours are available during open hours.
