About Rivers of Steel: Pump House & Water Tower
Rivers of Steel: Pump House & Water Tower celebrates southwestern Pennsylvania's industrial heritage through immersive tours, workshops, and exhibitions. Located in Munhall, this historic site showcases the region's steel legacy alongside the stories of the workers and communities that built it. Visitors can tour the Carrie Blast Furnaces, explore the W.A. Young & Sons Foundry and Machine Shop, and visit the Bost Building, a National Historic Landmark at the center of the 1892 Homestead Lockout and Strike. The Metal Arts program offers educational workshops and public demonstrations in foundry work inspired by the legacy of iron-making. The Bost Building serves as the Visitors' Center and features permanent exhibits on the U.S. Steel Homestead Works, temporary exhibitions, and an extensive archival collection of documents, photographs, and artifacts related to Big Steel. General admission is free.
