The Ralph Mark Gilbert Civil Rights Museum in Savannah documents the city's civil rights history across three floors of exhibits. Visitors walk through historic photographs, documentaries, and interactive displays covering Savannah's Jim Crow era and the local NAACP's desegregation efforts. The museum explores the stories of Ralph Mark Gilbert, the 13th pastor of First African Baptist Church and catalyst of Savannah's civil rights movement, and Westley Wallace Law, who led the NAACP from 1950 onward. A recreated 1960s lunch counter shows where sit-ins took place that sparked an economic boycott of Broughton Street businesses and helped desegregate the city. The museum also covers civil rights leader Hosea Williams and his work with Martin Luther King Jr. The museum charges admission, with separate prices for adults, seniors, and students; group rates are available. Tickets are sold online through the venue's website. The museum welcomes family reunions and school groups throughout the year.
