About Paradise Hills Native Garden

Paradise Hills Native Garden is a five-acre demonstration garden in San Diego that showcases California native plants in themed habitat gardens. Visitors walk marked paths through variously designed garden spaces featuring native species such as Engelmann Oaks, Coast Live Oaks, and manzanita. The garden circles a covered 1960s landfill that has been transformed into restored habitat for native flora and fauna. Interpretive signage throughout the gardens educates visitors about the plants and ecosystems. Benches and log seating areas allow visitors to rest while enjoying the grounds. The garden is the largest of four UC Master Gardener Association demonstration gardens in San Diego County and includes an adjacent skate park and open space preserve along Paradise Creek's south fork. The site welcomes community volunteers for maintenance activities including weeding, mulching, and planting. Located at Paradise Hills Community Park in San Diego, the native garden provides a peaceful space for walking, exercising, and learning about regional ecology.
