About Outdoor Activity Center

The Outdoor Activity Center is a 26-acre nature preserve where visitors explore old-growth forest through about two miles of trails and engage with nature-based environmental education. The facility features a treehouse classroom, a children's nature-themed playground, and a multi-purpose room for learning activities focused on conservation, ecology, and the natural environment. Adjacent to the center are a community-run vegetable garden, a practice field for the Historic Atlanta Black Crackers, and Bioponica, a sustainable urban farming system. Programs engage the entire community in activities throughout the forest, teaching participants about their role as environmental stewards. The center, established in 1975 as Bush Mountain Outdoor Activity Center, serves as an integral resource for Fulton County and Atlanta Public Schools systems. Located approximately five miles from downtown Atlanta, the Outdoor Activity Center suits families, school groups, and those seeking outdoor environmental education and nature-focused activities in an urban setting.
