About Apex Museum

APEX Museum preserves and presents African and African American history across galleries in Atlanta's Sweet Auburn District. Visitors explore permanent exhibits including Africa: The Untold Stories, which traces ancient African civilizations beginning around 6500 BC, and The MAAFA—The African Holocaust, covering the transatlantic slave trade. The featured exhibit Sweet Auburn: Before, During & Beyond 1906 uses photographs, archival documents, oral histories, and maps to examine the 1906 Atlanta Race Massacre and the neighborhood's resilience. The museum houses artifacts, art, and historical items related to Sweet Auburn Street, once known globally as an African American center of business and culture.
