About Apex Museum

The APEX Museum preserves and promotes African American history in Atlanta's Sweet Auburn District. Visitors explore enriching and thought-provoking exhibits filled with historical artifacts and art that trace the African and African American experience. The featured exhibit, Sweet Auburn: Before, During & Beyond 1906, centers on the 1906 Atlanta Race Massacre and examines the thriving neighborhood that preceded it, the violence that unfolded over four days, and the community's resilience afterward. Through photographs, archival documents, oral histories, maps, and immersive storytelling, the exhibit reveals the lives, businesses, institutions, and families that shaped Sweet Auburn. The museum offers group tours led by guides for groups between ten and forty-eight people, specially curated touring exhibitions, and culturally relevant programming.
