About Madame CJ Walker Boutique Museum/WERDSTUDIO

Madame CJ Walker Boutique Museum/WERDSTUDIO in Atlanta celebrates the legacy of America's first female self-made millionaire and a leading African-American philanthropist through exhibits and memorabilia. Visitors explore the museum's collection devoted to Madame C.J. Walker's life and accomplishments. The WERDSTUDIO section features stories about WERD-AM, the first black-owned radio station in America, alongside the spectacular Great Wall of Vinyl. The museum also screens the documentary Alley Pat: The Music is Recorded, which won First Place at the Atlanta Film Fest 2010 and follows James 'Alley Pat' Patrick, the last surviving DJ from WERD-AM, as he recounts the outrageous era of classic R&B radio. The venue operates in Atlanta, Georgia, and offers both self-guided exploration of the collections and the opportunity to experience this significant chapter of American cultural history.
