About Orange County Zoo

Orange County Zoo occupies space within the 495-acre Irvine Regional Park in Orange. The zoo focuses on animals and plants native to the southwestern United States, featuring black bear, mountain lion, bald eagle, kit fox, ocelot, beaver, great horned owl, porcupine, coyote, and turkey vulture. Many animals are injured, orphaned, confiscated, or unable to be released into the wild. The zoo includes a barnyard with domestic goats and sheep, a Children's Zoo section, an Interpretive Programs Center, and a Storytime Area. Educational programs and special events are offered regularly. A free cell phone audio tour is available by dialing a designated number to hear from animal keepers, veterinarians, and curators about the animals' diets, names, origins, and reasons for their residence at the zoo. Visitors can participate in preschool programs and age-specific educational classes throughout the year.
