About Northern Illinois Steam Power Club

The Northern Illinois Steam Power Club in Sycamore preserves steam power history through educational exhibits and operating demonstrations. Visitors observe restored steam engines and machinery, including the Illinois Threshing Company Engine, the Kewanee Boiler and Corliss Engine, and a Nichols and Shepard Steam Engine operating a saw mill. The club displays the Dain tractor, an Aultman and Taylor saw mill, an Erie Steam Shovel, and gas tractor exhibits. The Minneapolis Steam Engine and a half-scale Case Steam Engine are also on view. The Northern Illinois Steam Power Club, established in 1957 by steam enthusiasts, hosts educational programs about how steam powered factories, fields, and transportation historically. The club operates a youth education initiative called the Green Team. A visit suits anyone interested in industrial and agricultural history, mechanical engineering, or early American industry.
