The Nicholas Stoltzfus Homestead is a restored stone colonial-style house built in the early 1700s where visitors tour the residence and learn about Berks County Amish history and colonial life. The property includes a Schweitzer-style barn replica constructed in 2011, situated on one acre along the Tulpehocken Creek. The homestead offers educational programs and special events throughout the year, including the Amish Wagon Train and Berks County Amish Historical Tour. The barn and grounds accommodate weddings, family reunions, and corporate picnics, with amenities including a public restroom, small kitchen, and climate control. The site sits adjacent to Berks County Parks and Trails, near shopping and restaurants in downtown Reading. The Stoltzfus family, who purchased the property in 1771, were part of the Old Order Amish Anabaptist group and are the progenitors of all Stoltzfus surnames in America.
