Museum of the Islands preserves and displays the history of Pine Island and its surrounding islets in Southwest Florida. Visitors explore exhibits housed in the former island public library, featuring local artifacts and Pine Island Sound history. The museum displays antique golf clubs, golf artifacts including vintage "Plus fours" knickers, and original postcards of Useppa Island, Boca Grande, and Havana Country Club golf courses. Large lighted wall cases and turn-of-the-century wooden glass showcases hold historical items documenting the islands' past as a rural haven for fishermen and those seeking a quieter lifestyle. The gift shop stocks books by local authors, museum t-shirts, maps, custom afghans, and art supplies. The museum welcomes research projects and accepts group scheduling by appointment. Located in Bokeelia, the museum documents Pine Island's unique off-the-beaten-track character for future generations.
Hours: Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays 11am-3pm (from November 1st: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays 11-3)
