About Southwest FL Historical Society

The Southwest Florida Historical Society in Fort Myers preserves and presents the history of Southwest Florida through exhibits of original documents, maps, and photographs. Visitors explore the museum's collections housed in a historic building that was rescued from demolition in 1983 and relocated to the Lee County Alliance for the Arts campus. The society, established in 1963, opened its doors to the public in 1987 following renovations to meet building codes.
