About Mundelein Heritage Museum
The Mundelein Heritage Museum showcases the history of Mundelein through exhibits that visitors can explore during posted hours on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The museum displays artifacts and information about early pioneers, one-room schools from Fremont Township, memorabilia from iconic local businesses, and military displays from World War I and World War II. An office dedicated to Mundelein's railroad history features photographs and documents that tell the area's story. The museum also includes a display on the five different names Mundelein has held throughout its past. A temporary exhibits room provides rotating collections of local interest. For those interested in preserving Mundelein's heritage, authentic bricks from the former Hawley Street Village Hall are available, each accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity. The museum, operated by the Mundelein Historical Commission in cooperation with the Village of Mundelein and Park District, welcomes residents and visitors interested in local history and heritage preservation.
