Mint Museum Randolph, housed in what was the first United States branch mint, opened in Charlotte's Eastover neighborhood as North Carolina's first art museum and displays permanent collections of Art of the Ancient Americas, African Art, European Art, and Native American Art. The Randolph location also features rotating exhibitions such as Interventions: Weaving Joy, Woven Resistance and Portals To The Past: British Ceramics 1675–1825. The museum maintains an on-site library holding over 23,000 books, 230 magazines, and 5,500 artist files. A general admission ticket grants access to both Mint Museum Randolph and the sister location Mint Museum Uptown for two consecutive days. Visitors can explore the permanent collections and special exhibitions Tuesday through Sunday. Admission is free every Wednesday night from 5–9 PM at both locations. College art students with ID receive free admission. Tickets are sold online at mintmuseum.org, where admission prices are published.
