ImaginOn: The Joe & Joan Martin Center in Charlotte brings stories to life through interactive exhibits, professional theater productions, and creative learning spaces. The 102,000-square-foot facility combines the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library with Children's Theatre of Charlotte, drawing more than 300,000 visitors annually. Visitors explore Spangler Library for Children, designed for kids 11 and under, alongside a separate teen-only library space. The center features two state-of-the-art theaters for live performances, four multi-use classrooms for educational programs, a multimedia production studio, and interactive exhibit areas. A makerspace called Studio i and an area called The Block provide hands-on creative activities. School groups, scouts, youth organizations, and summer camps visit as structured field trips with advance registration. Families and individuals can also drop in during open hours. Located in Charlotte's cultural arts district, ImaginOn serves preschool through high school-aged visitors with library collections, innovative education programs, and award-winning theater experiences.
