About Historic Rosedale

Historic Rosedale is a house museum set on nine acres in Charlotte that preserves an 1815 Federal-style home and interprets the lives of five generations of the Frew, Caldwell, and Davidson families who lived there, along with the enslaved and free African Americans who worked on the land. Visitors explore the restored historic house by guided tour, walk through gardens featuring native and heirloom plants and Treasure Trees, and view exhibits about the home's history. A recreated blacksmith shop sits on the grounds alongside the accredited arboretum. The site functions as an urban oasis amid surrounding development, offering a glimpse into early nineteenth-century life and the diverse stories of all who inhabited Rosedale.
