Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture in Charlotte celebrates African-American art, history and culture through rotating exhibitions and community programs. Visitors explore galleries featuring contemporary works such as textile art and photography, attend artist talks and film screenings like the Classic Black Cinema Series, and participate in dance fitness classes and visual storytelling workshops. The center houses the Mecca of Digital Arts, a state-of-the-art studio and innovation lab where visitors can engage with digital art creation. Guided tours led by museum professionals and teaching artists are available for groups, with enhanced tours including hands-on workshops where participants create their own artwork inspired by exhibitions. Family First programs and school tours designed around learning standards serve younger visitors. The center also offers virtual conversations and community celebrations throughout the year. Located in Uptown Charlotte at the Levine Center for the Arts, the Gantt Center serves families, school groups, community organizations and individual visitors seeking deeper understanding of African-American cultural and historical contexts.
