The Fayetteville-Lincoln County Museum & Event Center houses artifacts from the community's history in the renovated Borden Milk Plant, built in 1927 and located at downtown Fayetteville. Volunteer docents provide free museum tours showcasing Lincoln County's past, including exhibits related to the building's own industrial heritage. The Borden Plant once employed seventy-five local people and processed milk from more than twelve hundred regional farmers, converting raw milk into packaged butter, powdered milk, and cottage cheese, with byproduct whey sold to farmers as hog feed. The plant also produced goods for the U.S. war effort. The museum opened after extensive community restoration work inspired by a historic preservation class from Middle Tennessee State University. The facility operates entirely through volunteer efforts and community donations. The adjoining event center is available for public rentals. The museum serves Fayetteville, Tennessee as the only public location dedicated to preserving and displaying local historical artifacts.
