About Falls Mill and Museum

Falls Mill in Belvidere is a water-powered mill built in 1873 that now operates as a museum showcasing the history of industrial power and machinery. A 32-foot waterwheel still powers equipment across four levels of the historic building. Visitors tour the mill to see how the structure functioned first as a cotton and woolen factory, later as a cotton gin, woodworking shop, and grist mill. The Museum of Power and Industry occupies the restored building, displaying exhibits related to industrial heritage. The mill sits along Factory Creek in a wooded setting. A log cabin bed and breakfast is also available on the grounds. The attraction opens Thursday through Saturday during spring and fall months. Pets on leashes are welcome to explore the grounds. Falls Mill is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
