About League City Historical Society
The League City Historical Society operates three connected museums in League City's historic district where visitors independently explore curated artifacts from the area's past. The 1898 One Room Schoolhouse, a hands-on-history museum, allows school groups and families to experience what a day in a late-1800s classroom involved, with over 100,000 school-aged children having participated in the program. The Barn Museum and Barber/Ice House stand nearby, preserving structures from the same era. The society also hosts field trips for public schools, private schools, home schools and scout groups, with advanced reservations available. Girl Scout programs operate in the schoolhouse and garden classroom, covering topics like good citizenship, botanical science, and turn-of-the-century life. The society organizes monthly workshops, historic district walkabouts, and seasonal events throughout the year. General admission is free. The museums are located among historic homes and live oak trees in League City.
