About Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum

Landis Valley Village & Farm Museum preserves Pennsylvania German heritage and farming traditions across a complex of historic buildings in Lancaster. Visitors explore barns, homes, and outbuildings housing authentic household items and artifacts while learning from volunteers about rural life in the 18th and 19th centuries. The museum offers demonstrations of traditional crafts including fraktur painting, basket weaving, bobbin lace, and redware pottery. Throughout the year, the museum hosts hands-on workshops in tatting and other traditional trades, living-history festivals like Harvest Days featuring tractor-pulled wagon rides and historic children's games, and lectures on Pennsylvania Dutch foodways and culture. A visit typically requires two to three hours to explore the collections building and grounds via unpaved walkways. The site includes restrooms, accessible parking, and areas for rest. The museum operates Wednesday through Saturday mornings into afternoon, and Sunday afternoons. Tickets are sold online on the venue's website.
