The Demuth Museum of Art on King preserves and showcases the work of American Modern artist Charles Demuth, one of the leading Modernist painters, along with exhibitions by local, national, and international artists. Visitors tour the museum located in a historic rowhome, view special exhibitions, and explore the Demuth Garden during an average visit of 30 to 45 minutes. The museum maintains the 260-year-old Demuth family properties in historic downtown Lancaster, recognized as part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation's Historic Artists' Homes and Studios Program. The organization annually mounts 15 special exhibitions and hosts a Community Art Exhibition. Educational programs and public initiatives foster creativity and cultural appreciation throughout the Lancaster community. The museum welcomes over 10,000 visitors across its multiple locations each year and serves more than 2,000 participants through educational programming and public outreach.
