About Knob Creek Historical Museum

Knob Creek Historical Museum preserves over 250 years of Appalachian history through artifacts and exhibits developed by George and Margaret Holley. Visitors explore daily life in early East Tennessee by examining household items, farm tools, woven coverlets, and period furniture displayed throughout the museum. The extensive lithics collection features arrowheads gathered from the surrounding region. Exhibits include detailed models of early structures and recreated domestic spaces such as a fireplace with antique cooking pots and a period medicine cabinet. The museum also interprets the military history of East Tennessee. Located in Johnson City, Tennessee, Knob Creek Historical Museum serves as a stop on the Appalachian Quilt Trail, connecting visitors to the broader heritage network of the region.
