The Historic 1875 Southern Pacific Depot in Kingsburg operates as an educational facility preserving railroad heritage in the San Joaquin Valley. Visitors experience the Leon S. Peters Learning Center, a living history program where costumed actors portray real people from 1923, when train depots served as community meeting places. The program hosts public, private, and homeschool students who interact with these historical interpreters to understand how railroads influenced American towns during the early twentieth century. The site features the Baldwin S-10 0-6-0 steam locomotive Southern Pacific #1238, a historic engine that once served local industries and is now undergoing restoration. The Depot Freight House operates as an event venue available for gatherings. The original depot underwent historically accurate restoration completed in 2016, supported by over 1,600 private donations and a federal grant. The Kingsburg Depot serves students and public visitors interested in learning about the San Joaquin Valley Railroad Line and regional history.

The page stays here because the attraction is still worth knowing about, and because we keep checking. If a deal appears on their site, it appears here.
