Imaginarium of South Texas features Timmy T-Rex, an animatronic dinosaur whose movements and roars teach children about prehistoric creatures throughout the museum. This hands-on learning center in Laredo offers interactive exhibits designed around STEAM exploration, where visitors engage directly with displays rather than observing behind glass. Curious Critter Corner provides close encounters with live animals including corn snakes, turtles, tortoises, geckos, sugar gliders, and a bearded dragon, teaching wildlife biology and ecology. Additional exhibits include Little H-E-B, where children practice math and money management through role-play shopping; Gears & Spheres, featuring pulleys, levers, and inclined planes for exploring force and motion; and Dino Dig, an outdoor covered space where families unearth large fossils buried in sand. The museum also hosts field trips, camps, programs, and birthday parties. Founded in 1991, the Imaginarium operates on the philosophy that children learn best through doing, providing creative learning experiences for families throughout South Texas and Northern Mexico.
