About Historic Old Town NB

Historic Old Town in New Braunfels preserves 19th-century German Texan architecture and life. Visitors tour restored buildings including a Sunday house, a period saloon, a one-room limestone schoolhouse with original desks, and a music studio where Stefan Haelbig taught generations of students. The museum displays a restored 1907 REO automobile and 19th-century craftsmen's tools, including implements used by Johann Jahn. Exhibits feature examples of traditional German fachwerk construction methods visible in some of New Braunfels' oldest structures. Off-site historic properties include Ferdinand Lindheimer's 1845 home, the 1853 Arnold-Rauch-Brandt Homestead, the 1883 Buckhorn Barbershop, and the 1858 Gerlich-Wagenfuehr Haus downtown. The venue hosts regular events including a Historic Home Tour and Antiques and Artisans Show. Historic Old Town functions as both a museum and event venue in New Braunfels, Texas, operated by the New Braunfels Conservation Society.
