About The Heritage Museum of the Texas Hill Country

The Heritage Museum of the Texas Hill Country preserves over 200 dinosaur footprints and 28 separate trackways from the early Cretaceous period, approximately 110 million years old. Visitors explore a multi-acre property featuring a boardwalk tour of the dinosaur trackways, where docent-guided tours explain the dinosaurs, fossil history, and the Texas Hill Country's geological past. The museum displays an extensive Cretaceous fossil collection and Native American artifacts in indoor and outdoor exhibits. Guests can participate in Fossil Ridge tours that combine short hikes with hands-on Cretaceous fossil hunts. The grounds include three or more gardens and hiking trails to walk and discover. Seasonal events such as Fall Fun and Pumpkin Carving offer activities for kids, crafts, trick-or-treating, and pumpkin carving. The museum is located in Canyon Lake on FM 2673 between Startzville and Sattler, open Wednesday through Sunday with admission fees published online.
