About Fort Ross State Historic Park
Fort Ross State Historic Park preserves buildings and a reconstructed stockade wall from North America's southernmost Russian colony, founded in 1812, along with features from the mid-19th and 20th century ranching era. The park sits on the ancestral homelands of the Kashia Band of Pomo Indians of the Stewarts Point Rancheria, called Metini Village. Visitors explore historic structures, the Reef Campground, and the preserved landscape to learn about Russian settlement and ranching history. Dogs are permitted throughout the park. The park lies 12 miles north of Jenner on Highway One, approximately one and a half hours from Santa Rosa and three and a half hours from San Francisco.
