About Filipinos of South Bay Exhibit

The Filipinos of South Bay Exhibit at the Chula Vista Public Library documents the history and stories of Filipino and Filipino American communities in the South Bay region. Developed through partnership with the Friends of the Chula Vista Heritage Museum, PASACAT, FANHS-San Diego, and COPAO, the exhibit presents narratives framed through the concepts of Kapwa and the Bayanihan Spirit. Visitors explore historical artifacts, photographs, and documentation spanning multiple South Bay communities including Bonita, Imperial Beach, National City, Paradise Hills, Valencia Park, Otay Ranch, and South San Diego. The exhibit features individual stories and group histories, along with historical events and photographs, newspaper clippings, and souvenir programs contributed by community members. The collection includes materials documenting Filipino participation in military service and early community life. Located at the Chula Vista Public Library Civic Central Branch in Chula Vista, California, the exhibit serves those interested in regional Filipino American heritage and local history.
