About Fellow Earthlings' Wildlife Center

Fellow Earthlings' Wildlife Center is a nonprofit facility in Morongo Valley that specializes in caring for meerkats from accredited zoos. The center provides permanent homes for meerkats that are orphaned, injured, sick, elderly, or displaced from other facilities. Through the Adopt a Meerkat Program, visitors and up to three guests participate in private two-hour interactive experiences where they hand-feed the meerkats, photograph them, and play with them. The meerkats will take treats directly from visitors' hands, sit in laps, untie shoelaces, and investigate pockets. Founded in 1989, the center holds licenses from California Fish and Game, the U.S.D.A., and Fish and Wildlife Service. Its high desert location near Morongo Valley replicates the Kalahari Desert climate of the meerkats' native habitat in southern Africa. The facility was featured in Animal Planet's Meerkat Manor series and has appeared in documentaries including National Geographic's Meerkat Madness.
