The Hesperia Zoo, operating since 2001 on 10 acres in California's high desert, houses native, rare, and endangered species from six continents. Visitors explore exhibits featuring primates, big cats, small mammals, exotic birds, and exotic hoofstock. The zoo offers guided walking tours where visitors learn about animal ambassadors during one-hour educational sessions. Safari Guided Feeding Tours provide opportunities to feed big cats, lemurs, monkeys, and exotic hoofstock. Specialized encounters include a Sloth Encounter where visitors meet and photograph sloths, a Capybara Encounter with Sprout the friendly capybara including feeding opportunities, and Picnic with a Primate, a morning experience combining a continental breakfast with primates and a visit to a monkey jungle gym. School groups and private parties can arrange tours and birthday celebrations.
