East Texas Elephant Experience is a facility in Cut and Shoot where visitors interact with African elephants up close during guided tours lasting up to 1.5 hours. The attraction houses three African elephants: Paige, the tallest at over 9 feet; Krissy, standing 7 feet 10 inches; and Jeanie, the heaviest at 9,500 pounds. During a tour, guests learn about elephant conservation and the plight of African elephants in their native range. Visitors pet the elephants, take photographs with them, and learn about their husbandry, including diet, exercise, and foot care. The facility also features Dromedary camels named Earl Jack and Abu, a Grants zebra called Mr. Z, and a herd of pygmy goats. Guests meet and feed these animals as well. Tours accommodate groups up to 40 people and operate on varying dates and times. The experience suits families and anyone interested in wildlife education and hands-on animal interaction.
