East Broad Top Railroad is a National Historic Landmark where visitors ride narrow-gauge steam trains through the scenic Aughwick Valley in coach, open-air, cinder car, or caboose seating. The railroad, built beginning in 1872, is the only surviving three-foot gauge common carrier railroad east of the Rocky Mountains. Guests can board northbound trips to Colgate Grove or southbound excursions to Pogue, ride the M-1 gas-electric unit, or pedal Allegheny Rail Bikes along the tracks. Guided tours explore the roundhouse with locomotives built in the early 1900s and the machine shop. Located in Rockhill, Pennsylvania, the railroad offers military discounts of $3.00 off coach, open air, cinder car, and caboose tickets for active and retired military and disabled veterans plus up to three family members. AAA and AARP members and seniors 65+ receive $1.00 off these same ticket types, and Huntingdon County residents get $2.00 off per ticket.
