The Rivet at Discovery Space is a 5,000-square-foot community makerspace where visitors of all skill levels can learn to create and use professional tools. The workshop includes dedicated spaces for woodworking, pottery, jewelry, digital fabrication, textiles, electronics, and welding. Equipment ranges from wood shop tools and 3D printers to embroidery machines and pottery wheels. First-time visitors complete a free 45-minute orientation covering safety basics and workshop operations. The Rivet offers classes taught by skilled instructors, private group classes with flexible scheduling, and open workshop hours where members and day-pass holders work on personal projects. Monthly maker meet-ups and signature events like Maker Faire Happy Valley bring the community together. Monthly events and classes teach technical skills and critical thinking through hands-on experimentation.
