About Dallas Firefighters Museum

The Dallas Firefighters Museum preserves the history of Dallas firefighting through exhibits of authentic equipment spanning more than a century. Visitors tour displays featuring a steam engine nicknamed "Old Tige" from 1884, engines from the 1920s, original helmets and uniforms, and fire equipment from across the decades. The museum offers hands-on learning opportunities where children and adults can try on firefighting clothing to experience what real firefighters wear. Educational programming throughout the year includes summer camps and special exhibits designed to teach fire prevention and all-hazards life safety education. The museum also hosts birthday parties for groups and provides resources for educational partnerships with schools. Operating since 1972 and run by active-duty and retired firefighters, the museum honors fallen heroes while collecting and preserving the cultural heritage of the Dallas Fire Department. The museum is located in Dallas, Texas, and publishes its hours and admission prices online.
