Castle Rock State Park features sculpted sandstone formations, lush forests, and sweeping vistas from one of the highest ridges in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Visitors hike to Castle Rock Falls and Goat Rock on marked trails, with backcountry trail camps available for those who register or make reservations. The park opens at 6am and stays open until sunset for day use, while the Kirkwood Entrance Station operates from 8am to 5pm daily. Dogs are not permitted in the park. The park charges admission for vehicle day use and publishes its prices online; discounted admission applies with the Disabled Discount Pass, which provides a fifty percent reduction on vehicle day-use fees. Fourth graders and their families receive free entry through California's statewide fourth-grade pass program at this park and fifty-three others. Castle Rock State Park is located on Highway 35, approximately two and a half miles southeast of Los Gatos where Highway 35 meets Highway 9.
