Caroga Historical Association and Museum preserves local history across eight exhibit buildings on a twelve-acre property in Caroga Lake. Visitors explore the Arnst family homestead, a former tanner's residence moved to the site in 1981, alongside structures representing work and family life from the late nineteenth through mid-twentieth century. The museum mounts two special exhibits annually that highlight the area's history and reputation as a summer haven for artists. Programming includes an annual artisan and vendor fair with food, one-day workshops exploring creative skills, and special events such as concerts and guest speakers. The complex features Sherman's Arcade and exhibits like Paul Bransom: Encountering the Wild, plus displays related to Kane Mountain Fire Tower. The museum recently acquired an original Sherman's Carousel horse, named Frank after Frank Sherman Sr., who obtained the famous carousel from the Utica Fun Park in the 1930s. Admission is free. The museum operates seasonally and welcomes school groups and small group tours.
Admission is free. The venue says: “Admission is free with donations and memberships gratefully accepted”
Hours: 1pm to 4pm, Thursday thru Sunday
