About Busti Historical Society

Busti Historical Society maintains a restored 1839 grist mill, the Miller's House, and a museum in Jamestown, New York. Visitors tour the functioning mill and learn how grain becomes flour and cornmeal using simple machines. The society offers hands-on demonstrations where guests try historical crafts themselves, with free children's activities available. Summer craft classes include beginner bookbinding, beginner weaving, and naalbinding coasters held in the meeting room. Homeschool programs feature mill tours and craft projects to take home. The Busti Apple Harvest Festival draws visitors for demonstrations in spinning, weaving, quilting, log hewing, and flax breaking, plus locally grown apples, homemade pies, and food and craft vendors. The society, founded in 1972 by community members restoring the town's grist mill, continues preserving local history through education and seasonal events.
