About Buckingham Lake Park

Buckingham Lake Park is a five-acre pond surrounded by fifteen acres of green space in Albany, New York, where visitors walk, jog, fish, and observe wildlife throughout the year. The park includes a gravel walking and jogging path that circles the pond, benches and picnic tables for resting, a seasonal drinking fountain, and an inclusive playground for children. Wooded areas contain smaller paths for exploration. The pond itself reaches three feet deep in most places, with a maximum depth of six feet at the eastern end and a small wetland at the western end. Families come to fish responsibly under New York regulations, while birders and naturalists watch for species like nuthatches. Runners use the shady pond path daily, and children enjoy the playground and water's edge. Parking is available in a small lot on Berkshire Boulevard near Colonial Avenue, with ample street parking nearby and bike racks at the playground.
