About Bradford House

The Bradford House is a living museum in Placentia that offers docent-led tours of a restored 1902 Queen Anne Victorian home built by citrus industry pioneer Albert Sumner Bradford. Visitors explore a 15-room, two-story house furnished in 1900-1920 style, examining architectural details including a ruby glass window, coved ceilings, a handcrafted hemlock staircase, pocket doors, and a double fireplace separating the back parlor and dining room. The kitchen features built-in cabinetry, ceiling-high cupboards, and a massive worktable with sugar and flour bins. Four of the original seven upstairs bedrooms are open for viewing. The Placentia Founders Society, established in 1974, preserves the house and its surrounding 1.5 acres. The organization sponsors free chamber concerts and hosts school and scout tours for hundreds of children annually. Docent-led tours are available to the public and to organized groups.
