About Wyandot Popcorn Museum

The Wyandot Popcorn Museum in Marion showcases the history of popcorn machinery and American snacking culture through its collection of restored antique equipment. Visitors explore more than 50 popcorn carts and machines displayed under a colorful circus tent, along with photographs and memorabilia dating to the 19th century. The museum's centerpiece is a Cretors 1899 No. 1 Popcorn Cart, the third-oldest existing Cretors machine, painstakingly restored to its original condition. The collection also includes a 1909 Cretors Model D Popcorn Wagon, a horse-drawn wagon once used by Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and a 1909 Dunbar Model 950 that Paul Newman operated for product promotion in Central Park and at supermarket demonstrations. Founded in 1982 to honor Marion's contributions to American snack history, the museum occupies a historic downtown Post Office building. Group tours are available by appointment. The museum operates seasonally, with hours published online.
