Walk of Heroes Veterans Memorial Park in Conyers honors the sacrifices of military veterans through a self-guided tour across three acres at Black Shoals Lake. Visitors follow a paved, handicapped-accessible walkway past the fountain, designed with a bead sight symbolizing vigilance and protection, and the Freedom Statue, representing liberty and service. The main feature is the Walk of Heroes walkway, lined with 72 marble timeline bands engraved with years, countries, and descriptions of America's military deployments overseas throughout the twentieth century. The park displays quotes, wall carvings, statues, and sculptural enclaves dedicated to five wars and other conflicts, each expressing the bravery and commitment of veterans. A stage hosts two annual signature events on Memorial Day and Veterans Day, which are free and open to everyone.
